Kailua Kona Town

Kailua Kona Town is nestled at the bottom of the Hualalai Volcano in Hawaii County.  For much of its history, Kailua Kona was considered the premier place to live due to the excellent weather and good water, among the best in Hawaii!  Many kings made their homes along the Kona Kohala Coast and had residences in Kailua Kona town.  Later, missionaries built churches and residences turning the tiny fishing village into a small seaport.  It has a central place in the history of the Hawaiian Islands.
The main street, Ali’i Drive, runs along the Kona oceanfront through the heart of the city from Kailua Pier to the Kuamo’o Battlefield. This charming town mixes numerous historical sites with modern tourist attractions.  And our tip here is that sunsets viewed from the seawall are a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike.
